  • Why are these women so easy?

I really thought Chelsea was going to be a fun character, a real ball buster. She’s not. It’s embarrassing how easy she gives in to a man who doesn’t deserve it. This series, so far, is way over priced for the content. This author has two good novels, the first and third books in the Blue Collar series. Give those a read but skip the second book.

Chelsea and Dean met in college and fell in love at first sight. Dean was a Senior being scouted as a baseball pitcher by the MLB and Chelsea was a freshman. They married on impulse in Vegas and were divorced four months later after Dean’s partying ended his baseball career and their marriage. Fast forward five years and Chelsea is working at the RISE charity where she delivers tax information to their new attorney, who happens to be her ex. Dean has turned his life around and wants to have a second chance with Chelsea. This is a fun second chance romance.

Piper Rayne returns with the second book in their Charity Case series which is about a second chance at love. Chelsea Walsh was only married for four months and has been divorced for 5 years. Focused on getting her life back on track, she has been using dating apps without success. Readers who have read Piper Rayne’s Manic Monday will remember her best buds Hannah and Victoria who work with her at RISE, a charitable foundation for empowering women. These three ladies have the most hilarious conversations reflecting their love and support of one another. As Marketing Director for RISE, Chelsea is shocked when she encounters Dean Bennett, a tax attorney who volunteered to do pro bono work for RISE and who also happens to be her ex-husband!! Was this a coincidence? The readers will quickly realize that there is still serious chemistry between Chelsea and Dean along with unresolved issues that led to their divorce. Dean convinces Chelsea to give him a second chance to prove he has really changed. While they easily pick up where they left off in the bedroom (and kitchen and living room and front door), family interference and the upcoming wedding of her cousin Skylar makes it impossible to keep their reunion on the down low. What I loved most about this story was how Dean was able to convince Chelsea that he has truly changed. After a devastating injury that ruined his chances at a professional baseball career, he got his act together and became a successful lawyer. He gets along great with kids quickly winning over Victoria’s daughter Jade as well has Chelsea’s nieces and nephews. He sends Chelsea thoughtful romantic gifts that have special meaning. Most importantly is how Dean shows his love to Chelsea with his words and body! Their afternoon trists are truly romantic and guaranteed to curl your toes!!
