SOMETIMES GROWING UP

MEANS FACING YOUR DEMONS

The son of a struggling single mother, Jamie Conklin just wants an ordinary childhood. But Jamie is no ordinary child. Born with an unnatural ability his mom urges him to keep secret, Jamie can see what no one else can see and learn what no one else can learn. But the cost of using this ability is higher than Jamie can imagine – as he discovers when an NYPD detective draws him into the pursuit of a killer who has threatened to strike from beyond the grave.

LATER is Stephen King at his finest, a terrifying and touching story of innocence lost and the trials that test our sense of right and wrong. With echoes of King’s classic novel It, LATER is a powerful, haunting, unforgettable exploration of what it takes to stand up to evil in all the faces it wears.

A very easy read - which is a credit to King and his writing. I expected a little more from the story and it seemed to end fairly suddenly. Not sure what, exactly, more I expected, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I’m an avid reader of many things, and King is my favorite author. That said, I am not a “He can’t do anything wrong” sort of guy. Lisey’s Story is an example of a book I couldn’t even finish... but then there are the good, the great and the masterpieces. I found this to be a truly strong outing. I’ve read King nearly my entire life. I’m 52 now, and Steven is older. I wish he could live forever... but I’d settle for as long as I do. King’s voice is my favorite one to hear in my head. Thanks for the fun book, champ. I may not be able to call you back from the deadlights when you’re gone, but I suppose revisiting your prose will suffice.

A soft horror story narrated by boy as he grows from a child to a young man. An interesting twist on the human desire to communicate with the dead.

I really enjoyed this but it was such a quick read I found myself wishing it were longer LoL. I also enjoyed that it was a bit different than the usual S. King books.

Short and sweet. Genuinely chilling at times. A surprising appearance of ... something! And a touching ending.
