Another dependable read...

Writing very engulfing and captivating. Story and settings old, as is book.
British English text, however is very annoying to me. Prefer American English.
Should spell out before buying book!!

Only one other author has kept me this enthralled. Philip Kerr .
I enjoyed the suspense to the last page, after many a sleepless night.

Excellent! One of the best books I have read. I now have a new author to follow and anticipate reading his other novels.
The Kill Artist
A real spy story, with traps within traps, hidden motives, old grudges, and surprising weaknesses in strong characters. If you only appreciate "slam bang boom, explosions, hundreds of shots fired, unrealistic excitement, this book is too subtle for you. The characters have depth, the action is realistic, and the reader cares about the characters. I enjoyed Gabriel Allon, but did not think he deserved the two women in his life, even though he cared for them, but poorly. This was another touch of realism. Daniel Silva has caught my interest and I plan to read all of his Gabriel Allon books!
The Kill Artist
Slower read than subsequent Allon novels. Interesting that background information is used verbatim from book to book. Regardless, I am hooked with Gabriel Allon character and obsessively read book after book. I try to stop but find the need to visit Gabriel overwhelming. Reading whole series while awaiting new release in July.
Very Well Written. Entertaining. Realistic.
The reviews seem to want to compare this to other series. Ive read every Mitch Rapp book, and I have to say this is a much better piece of writing. The story moves at a slower pace. And the action often happens between the lines. But it isn't over the top and unbelievable. And the research that went into the book is very impressive. There is much more of an espionage/intrigue thing going on in this book. It creates a nice balance between Le Carre intelligence and Mitch Rapp action. I'll definitely be reading more.
Was looking for new Rapp or Harvath
Love vince flynn and brad thor, was looking for next series similar. Silva is better than Lee Child and Ted Bell in my opinion as far as writing styles go... Again, flynn and thor are cream of the crop to me. Only thing i didnt like was Silva's Gabriel Allon see,ed to get beat the whole book. He came out a winner by luck, and not his own luck. I may try the next book in the series as i liked it better than Child and Bell. I hope the future books are Allons backstory and not more about an art restorer forced into spy work past his prime.
I've now read 3 books by Daniel Silva and can't wait for the next one!
Not a real page turner
The book is okay. It kept me interested, but it's not the page turners that the Mitch Rapp and Scott Harvath series are. Although it may be more realistic I didn't find it as entertaining. This is the first novel in the series that I have read and will read the next one hoping the series gets better.
