Another great story by Marc Cameron, featuring Arliss Cutter and his partner, Lola. I’m glad to see another book in this series is forthcoming but it’s going to be hard to wait almost 10 months to read it !!! An OUTSTANDING series, one I highly recommend to everyone.

I am only familiar with the US Marshals Service though books and various movies; however, Arliss Cutters character in these books have given me a better understanding of their role in our increasingly lawless world. Being a former Hospital Corpsman on active duty for 7 years from 1964-1972 with 2 of those years being in-country in Vietnam serving our USMC provided me the opportunity to experience firsthand the heroism of grunts and their 1st & 2nd lieutenants combined commitment to each other in real time is something I will treasure forever and I believe will continue in the afterlife that for me shouldn’t be too far off and please understand that’s certainly okay for me. Our enemies, foreign and domestic, are not pursuing to overthrow us through military means because they can’t; therefore, we are being defeated from within by the greed of our leadership for personal gain who kowtow to Russia, China, et.al. while crippling our economy, values, morals, and national identity. This is Not the country that I was willing to die for, but I will remain hopeful, to my death, that we will return to our roots. May we immediately recognize the need for law enforcement, our military, and true justice for all Americans instead of defunding the very people who are attempting to protect our Republic from the evil that is invading our nation and the minds of our children. J David Stephenson who is not a domestic terrorist, but is a believer of the Constitution and the freedom that we are slowly losing.

A well done story of its genre. Fast paced, non-stop and as they say, hard to put down. Alaskan description are right on and you feel you’re there. Characterizations are broad, maybe a bit exaggerated but in the context of the book, believable enough. The bad guys (Russian, of course) are, well, really, really bad. From the beginning you know there’s going to be the ultimate showdown, that the good guys are going to win, and it’s just a matter of when and how. And the how is well drawn and incredibly tension filled.

Awesome action and thoughtful caring moments of realistic people. Great physical descriptions of the beauty and ruggedness of Alaska including the dangerous weather impact

A nice action packed thriller by Marc Cameron, a former US Deputy Marshal. Well done and clearly worth a read.
  • Love the characters, the locations and the stories.

The mark of a great book for me is rushing to get to the end and hating it’s over. The Arliss Cutter series is just that. Can’t wait till the next book comes out. Highly recommend.

This is not a good Cutter story so far, to many twist and turns before the action even begins. I’m only 75% through but it’s not a page turner like the rest of the series

Loved the whole story wished for more of Mimi’s stint in the clinic on the North Slope. Maybe in the next book.

I skipped the unrealistic gun battles on a moving train in Alaska between US Marshalls and Russian mafia because they seemed too unbelievable and unrealistic. Jumping into ice water from a moving train, and then jumping back on to save the good guys felt great to read, but even Hercules or Superman would be challenged. Protection and security for officials taking high risk vacations with their families should not be publicly funded. Secret Service, FBI, and US Marshalls have enough to do fighting terrorists and criminals without babysitting spoiled, arrogant public officials! Also, too many characters and side stories were distracting and boring.
